Looking for Coaches!

The Wascana Racing Canoe Club (WRCC) is looking for persons to fill seven (7)
positions. If you have a positive attitude and are interested in working with youth while
learning about a unique sport that requires agility and balance, then these jobs may be
for you.


The WRCC is hiring a club coach to fill in at the club in Regina during the annual Spring
Camp. The WRCC is also looking for three coaches filling two different job roles over
the summer months. If the individual applying for the position is also interested in one of
the summer positions, please state this on your resume/cover letter. Previous canoe/kayak experience is not required but is an asset.


Job descriptions are below:
Position #1 (full-time)

Job Title: Administrator and Assistant Head Coach

Term: Spring 2025 to Summer 2025, June 2 to August 22
Reports to: Head Coach

? You will teach and supervise U14 canoe and kayak athletes doing physical exercise
training in the gym.
? Teach dryland canoeing and kayaking skills to program participants using paddling
and rowing machines according to training routines provided by the Head Coach.
? Develop good rapport with and exhibit good interpersonal and communication skills
with athletes and parents.
? Ensure the safety of athletes by supervising training practices.
? Oversee athletes to keep equipment and training rooms clean and tidy.

? Complete website and social media updates.
? Accept and process program registrations.
? Answer public inquiries regarding club and programming.

Position #2 (2 positions- full-time)
Job Title: Spring to Summer Day-Camp Coach
Term: Spring 2025 - Summer 2025, June 2 to Aug 22
Reports to: Head Coach/Assistant Head Coach

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
? You will teach and supervise varying ages of canoe and kayak athletes doing physical exercise
training on the water.
? Teach dryland canoeing and kayaking skills to program participants using paddling
and rowing machines according to training routines provided by the Head Coach.
? Develop good rapport with and exhibit good interpersonal and communication skills
with athletes and parents.
? Ensure the safety of athletes by supervising training practices.
? Oversee athletes to keep equipment and training rooms clean and tidy.

Position #3 (4 positions - full-time)

Job Title: Summer Day-Camp Coach

Term: Summer 2025, June 30-August 22

Job Tasks and Responsibilities are the same as Position #2

Certification Requirements (all positions)

? Current CPR and First Aid training.
? Respect in Sport Certification.

? Provide safe and effective instruction of basic cane, kayak, dragon boat and SUP
paddling to participants.
? work collaboratively with coaching staff to deliver quality programming; organize
team events.
? Communicate with participants and parents and encourages them to continue
participation in other WRCC programs.
? Willingness to take on miscellaneous tasks, such as dock supervision, passing on
information, maintaining equipment and facilities in a clean and tidy manner and
repairing equipment.
Certification Requirements:
? Current CPR and First Aid training.
? Willing to obtain a Motorboat License.
? Willing to obtain the Canoe Kids certification (course to be offered this spring).
? Respect in Sport Certification.
? Coaching experience and education experience is an asset but is not necessary.

Position #2 and #3 Job Tasks and Responsibilities (Spring/Summer Day-Camp Coach)
? Teach canoeing and kayaking skills to program participants.
? Work collaboratively with other coaches to plan a summer of fun activities for
participants while ensuring that the highest quality program is delivered.
? Communicate with participants and parents and encourages them to continue
participation in other WRCC programs.
? Willingness to take on miscellaneous tasks, such as dock supervision, passing on
information, maintaining equipment and facilities in a clean and tidy manner and
repairing equipment.
? Exhibit good interpersonal and communication skills with athletes and parents.
? Develop good rapport with people of all ages who have expressed a

willingness to learn the sport of canoeing and kayaking.
Certification Requirements:
? Current CPR and First Aid training.
? Willing to obtain a Motorboat License.
? Willing to obtain the Canoe Kids certification (course to be offered this spring).
? Respect in Sport Certification.
? Coaching experience and education experience is an asset but is not necessary.
