Overview: The Wascana Racing Canoe Club offers winter training programs for Masters who are looking to take the next step in their sprint canoe/kayak journey. Our winter programs are designed to help athletes develop specific strength and fitness elements that contribute to on water success in our sport. Winter training is extremely important for athlete development, and is a great way to stay strong, fit, and healthy in a fun and knowledgeable environment.
Our 2023-2024 winter programs will begin on Monday, December 4th, 2023 and will continue until Saturday, April 27th, 2024. Please note that the program will not be running between December 25, 2023 to January 6, 2024 inclusive.
Training Approach: Training sessions will utilize a well-rounded approach to achieve these goals, incorporating various activities such as cross country skiing, ERG training, and functional and dynamic strength training.

Program Details
Fee: $200
Training will be put on 3 times a week, and a minimum of 6 participants is required to run the program.
Mondays: 6:30pm - 7:30pm Coached session on ergs in Boat Bay 1.
Tuesdays: 7:30pm - 9:00pm Weight training in Canada Games Room (volunteer-led or self-directed).
Thursdays: 7:00pm - 8:00pm Stretch and Mobility in Canada Games Room (volunteer-led or self directed).

Participants are also invited to Cross Country Ski with the rest of the WRCC group when the Wascana Lake trails are ready. There are also two Cross Country Ski trips (price not included in registration fees) planned for the 2023/2024 season where Masters are invited to as well.
