Florida MASTERS Camp 2019 - DEPOSIT
Key words: Fun, Fitness, Social, Skills and Warm Sun
Once the kids are gone it's time for us! After a lot of tears (mine) last year when we did not offer a Masters Camp we learned our lesson. We are exited to do it again in 2019.
DATES: April 13-21
Accommodations are shared and are listed to sleep 8. We can shoot for 6 and do want everyone to feel comfotable. The units are new construction luxury townhouses.
Nearest Airport is Orlando International (MCO) and is only 40min drive from our site. You may be able to find good deals on airport shuttles from the airport to Cap Canaveral as well.
WHO IS IT FOR
The camp is offered as a week of paddling skills and fitness. If you are a novice or a pro, this camp will match you. We have a wide variety of boats and will have one to match your needs. If you were in one of our intro to kayaking or summer fitness paddling sessions, this is for you too.
WHAT WE DO
Organized paddling will take place twice a day. Normally the morning starts with a skills instruction. The 2nd session, paddlers get into small groups groups and get out for some milage with the skills work fresh in their mind from the morning.
Often the afternoon sessions become a game of who can see the most dolphin. You may likely get on the video camera in this session too. Video is reviewed as part of group technical discussions throughout the week.
In the evening we come together for a group meal, either prepared in our townhouse, or in one of the many local restaurants overlooking the beach.
ROCKETS... if we are lucky we will get to watch a rocket launch. We are on the Space Coast! These dates often are updated so check it out. We might get lucky.
Organizer, hosts and coaches
Mike Robinson - A Chartered Professional Coach and Head Coach of the Wascana Racing canoe club and Saskatchewan Provincial Coach. Mike has over 25 years of coaching experience with novice to world championship canoe and kayak athletes. Mike will break the stroke into basic objectives and share imagery and drills gained over the years. Mike believes the most important muscle for any stroke is a smile.
Sue Holloway - Sue will be joining us to share her warm vibe, expert advice and fantastic meal preparation. Sue is a two-time Olympic kayak medallist and Canadian Sports Hall of Fame inductee. Sue was the first woman to ever compete in the Molokai to Oahu outrigger canoe race in Hawaii. In Dragon boat, Sue is the Vice President of International Ice Dragon Boat Federation. In the summer she coaches a number of Ottawa crews. Sue has medaled at World's and Club Crew Championships with the Senior National Team and Galley Girls. Despite her stacked CV, most of all, Sue is simply Sue and we are thrilled to have her join us again.
- We have set a $1200 fee for the camp. The fee is the same as we used in 2016.
- Deposit is not refundable unless a minimum of 7 paddlers is not met.
IF USING CREDIT CARD FOR PAYMENT - we will need to add 3% service charge onto the fee. You can select e-transfer as the payment method to avoid the extra service fee.
